We are incredibly pleased to report the successful conclusion of the first and major phase of repairs to the Chancel roof. The South Chancel roof is now complete with a retiled, felted and batten roof as well as new gutters. The main beams etc. were in very good condition requiring minimum repairs. The requirements for access for the bats has also been met as well as the swifts.
We still have repairs to the roof and gutters on the North side of the Chancel roof which are scheduled for the next bat window in September.
The wall repairs have just started which involves repairing at a cost of £4,000 as recommended by our architect to avoid a £15,000 rebuild in the future. Your Trustees will be considering a contribution to these works when we can next meet.
The Nave roof will have the missing tiles replaced in September as well as a lead gutter repair.
The PPCC have now received grants from All Churches, Garfield Western and Essex Churches Trust in the total magnificent sum of £8,300. The Friends have also contributed £8,000 which combined with the grants has covered almost all the costs. The PPCC has funded the £290.51 as well as the VAT of £3,161.85 which will be reclaimed.
The balance in our account now stands at £4,804 as of the 18th June 2020. We have received a donation of £2,000 from Anglia Water in consideration of help given at the Pebmarsh treatment works.
Covid-19 has stopped the fund raising we had planned, but as regulations relax we hope to start again.
